The celebrations of the 15 March 1848
revolution and freedom fight of Hungary
are in the memory of the birth of a nation. The significance of the events of
1848-1849 is that the people of Hungary
started to think of themselves as members of the Hungarian nation, and together
they acted for it, many of them also sacrificing their lives. Among them, there
were Hungarians, Germans, Jewish, Gypsy people, and many more of other
different nationalities. On 17 March 2015 we remembered those Roma freedom
fighters and revolutionists who gave their lives for the independence of Hungary and for
the nation. The event was organized by the Farkas János Foundation and took
place in the Buda Castle in the Institute and Museum of Military History.
